Welcome to Amber Music's Instruction Page
Amber Music is pleased to introduce our new instruction branch. Beginning in January of 2012, we will be offering private, customized lessons in various aspects of traditional music in a series of eight week semesters, as well as two annual music camps for adults, Iceberg in June, and Berry in September.
Private lesson semesters will be conducted by Pamela Morgan, and will be customized to meet the wishes of individual students. Topics on offer include guitar, piano, voice, tin whistle, composition and instrumentation, production techniques, or any combination of these. While theory and sight reading are available upon request, the focus will be on the oral tradition, on how to translate the music one hears to an instrument, and to encourage imaginative use of an instrument by ear.
For singers, Ms Morgan will draw from her vast knowledge of traditional songs to find songs to suit individual voices.
For pianists, Ms. Morgan has just released a collection of piano arrangements of selected NL folk songs, and will teach these arrangements, or versions thereof. Student and instructor can also make new arrangements for songs chosen by the student upon request.
There will be two eight week semesters per year, January / Febuary, and October / November, beginning January 2012. We begin with a consultation to determine the course of instruction, then proceed with one forty five minute session a week for eight weeks.
